I had the pleasure of attending another wedding today, for longtime friend Chris, and Lindsay. They had it outside, at Baker Park, up near Bowness, which actually worked out much better than I thought it would. It’s a nice place, even if the skies were ominous, and the weather slightly nippy. Which was to be expected in September.
The reception was a good time as well, if a bit of a drive (down at Heritage Pointe golf course). The speeches were basically one long continuous burn on Chris (and mostly nice things about Lindsay, though they had their share of stories as well), which was to be expected. Dude can dish, so he’d better be able to take it.
The father of the bride- who absolutely killed in his speech- even had someone dressed as a pirate come in during his bit, on account of it being “International Talk Like a Pirate Day”. Outstanding. Even more than his opening with “Lindsay, good call on the creamed corn and potatoes.”
I guess you had to be there for that one.
That done, I’ll leave you with this:
And it’s a heave (hey!) hi (hey!), coming down the plains
Stealing wheat and barley, and all the other grains
And it’s a ho (hey!) hi (hey!), farmers bar your doors
When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina’s mighty shores
